There is no single answer, and any figure you read online is a guess about somebody else’s house. What a gas boiler installation costs depends on the boiler you choose, where it is going, what condition the existing pipework and radiators are in, and how much of the old system has to be altered to suit the new one.

Factors That Affect the Cost of Gas Boiler Installation

The size and type of boiler: The bigger and more powerful the boiler, the more it’s going to cost. Likewise, if you opt for a high-end boiler with advanced features, it’s going to cost more than a basic model.

The complexity of the installation: If your boiler is being installed in a difficult-to-reach location, or if the installation requires additional work (such as upgrading your gas line), the cost will be higher.

Your location: The cost of gas boiler installation can vary depending on where you live in the UK. If you live in a remote area, for example, you may have to pay more for installation.

Other factors: Other factors that can affect the cost of gas boiler installation include the cost of labour, the age of your existing heating system (if you’re replacing an old boiler), and any additional upgrades or modifications that may be required.

The Costs People Forget to Budget For

When you compare quotes, the headline figure is rarely where they differ. These are the items that quietly appear on one quote and not another:

• Removing and disposing of the old boiler. Included in ours as standard. Worth checking elsewhere.
• A system flush or a magnetic filter. If your existing radiators are full of sludge, a new heat exchanger will not survive long without this — and most manufacturers require it for the warranty.
• Upgrading the gas supply. A new boiler may need more gas than the old one could draw. If the existing pipe is undersized, it has to be replaced.
• Flue and condensate work. Straightforward if the boiler stays put, more involved if it moves.
• Building Regulations notification. We register the boiler with Gas Safe and the manufacturer for you; the certificate follows in the post.

A quote that omits three of those will always look cheaper on the phone and rarely stays cheaper by the end of the job.

How to Compare Quotes Properly

Get several, and make sure each one covers the same boiler, the same warranty length, and the same amount of pipework and disposal. A lower price for a lesser unit with a shorter warranty is not really a lower price. Insist on it in writing — a verbal figure commits nobody to anything.

Also ask what happens if the job overruns. Because we quote a fixed price rather than a day rate, a job that takes longer than we expected is our problem, not yours.
