Signs You Have a Leak You Cannot See

The Meter Test You Can Do Yourself

Before you ring anyone, this takes ten minutes and tells you a great deal. Turn off every tap and appliance in the house, then read your water meter and note the numbers exactly. Leave it an hour without using any water at all, then read it again. If it has moved, you have a leak on the supply somewhere.

You can narrow it further by turning off the internal stopcock and repeating the test. If the meter still ticks over, the leak is on the supply pipe between the meter and the house rather than inside it.

Leak detection and repair are charged at £95 + VAT for the first hour, which is always billable, then £47.50 + VAT for each hour after that. The first hour covers getting an engineer and the right equipment to your door and finding the fault properly rather than opening up the nearest wall and hoping. Any materials are agreed with you before we fit or order them.
