The Benefits of Having a New Bathroom Fitted by a Professional
Planning a bathroom renovation can be an exciting but challenging task. One crucial decision you need to make is whether to tackle the project yourself or hire a professional for the fitting. While DIY may seem tempting, there are significant benefits to entrusting your new bathroom installation to a skilled professional. In this article, we will explore the advantages of having a new bathroom fitted by a professional, ensuring superior craftsmanship and remarkable results.
Expertise and Skill
Professional bathroom fitters possess extensive knowledge, training, and experience in handling bathroom installations. They understand the complexities of plumbing, electrical work, tiling, and other crucial aspects of the project. With their expertise, they can ensure that your new bathroom is installed correctly, meeting all safety standards and regulations.
Personalised Design and Guidance
Professional bathroom fitters can offer valuable advice and guidance throughout the design and planning phase. They can help you optimise the available space, choose the right fixtures and materials, and create a layout that suits your preferences and lifestyle. Their expertise ensures a functional and aesthetically pleasing design tailored to your specific needs.
Quality Craftsmanship
One of the significant benefits of hiring professionals is the superior craftsmanship they bring to your bathroom project. From precise tile installation to flawless plumbing connections, professionals take pride in their work, delivering high-quality results that stand the test of time. Their attention to detail ensures a polished finish and a bathroom that functions flawlessly.
Efficient Project Management
Bathroom renovations involve multiple tasks, such as plumbing, electrical work, and tiling, which need to be coordinated effectively. Professional bathroom fitters have experience in project management, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. They handle scheduling, coordinate subcontractors if needed, and oversee the entire installation, saving you time and stress.
Time and Cost Savings
While hiring professionals may involve an upfront investment, it can lead to significant time and cost savings in the long run. Professionals have the necessary tools, equipment, and industry connections to complete the job efficiently. They can source materials at competitive prices and avoid costly mistakes or rework that can occur with DIY attempts.
Peace of Mind and Warranty
By hiring professionals, you gain peace of mind knowing that your bathroom installation is in capable hands. Reputable bathroom fitters often provide warranties for their work, giving you added protection and assurance. In case of any issues or concerns, they can address them promptly and efficiently, ensuring your satisfaction with the final result.
Where DIY Bathrooms Go Wrong
We get called to put these right often enough to know the pattern:
- Waterproofing behind the tiles. Tiles and grout are not waterproof on their own. If the wall behind a shower has not been tanked properly, water gets in and does its damage quietly for months before it shows up on a ceiling below.
- Waste falls. A waste pipe needs a consistent gradient. Get it fractionally wrong and the shower drains slowly for the rest of its life, and the fix means taking the floor up again.
- Electrics in a bathroom. Zones, bonding and RCD protection are all governed by the wiring regulations. This is not an area to improvise.
- Sealing. The silicone joint where the bath meets the tiles is the single most common source of the “mystery leak” we get called to, and it is almost always the last job done at the end of a long day.
The Order Things Have to Happen In
Half the value of a fitter is sequencing. First fix plumbing and electrics go in before the walls are closed up; then boarding and tanking; then tiling; then second fix, sanitaryware and sealing. Get that order wrong and you end up taking work back out to get at something behind it.
That is also why a bathroom takes the time it takes. Tanking and adhesive need to cure properly, and rushing those stages is exactly how you end up doing it twice.
