We do not quote a figure without seeing the property, because the honest answer depends on your house rather than on an average. Every new boiler installation we do is quoted free of charge, in writing, at a fixed price — and that price is what you pay.

Do I need planning permission to install a gas boiler?

No, you do not need planning permission to install a gas boiler. However, if you live in a listed building or conservation area, you may need to obtain permission from your local authority.

Can I install a gas boiler myself?

No, gas boiler installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer who has the necessary qualifications and experience.

Will I be without heating and hot water?

For most of the working day, yes. A straight swap is usually a single day; converting from a regular or system boiler to a combi is more like two, because the cylinder and loft tank come out and the pipework is reworked. If a job is going to run overnight, we tell you before we start rather than at five o’clock.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and be there at handover so we can walk you through the controls. Clear access to the boiler, the meter and the stopcock saves time — if the boiler lives in a cupboard full of coats, emptying it beforehand gets us started sooner.

Who registers the boiler and notifies Building Control?

We do, both. The manufacturer’s warranty registration and the Gas Safe notification are handled for you, and the Building Regulations compliance certificate follows in the post. Keep it with your house paperwork; a buyer’s solicitor will ask for it one day.

What guarantee do I get?

The manufacturer’s warranty covers the boiler itself, and its length depends on the model you choose. Our workmanship carries a separate 12-month guarantee on installations (90 days on repairs). Nearly every manufacturer requires an annual service to keep their warranty valid — ours is a flat £95 + VAT, and we will remind you when it is due.
